Weeks 2 Blog

 This week, I explored SecondLife a bit further. We were asked to interact with three different people in the virtual world. This experience was difficult at the start, I tried to find people in various locations on Wednesday the 17th but had very bad luck. On Thursday the 18th I tried again and finally found people!

My first interaction was at Frank's Jazz Club. Here, I entered the hall to where I was greeted by Liz Bernandez, the host. "Welcome Ms.Sarah" she said in the public chat. "Hi Liz how are you?" I replied.

We shared a small-talk conversation. Suddenly, I get a private message from Liz; "I would like to inform you that we require Formal Attire/Cocktail here in Frank's Jazz :)". Immediately I opened up the avatar portal and chose an avatar from 'Fantasy' that has a long green ball gown on. "Better?" I said to Liz, "Thank you for understanding Ms.Sarah" she replied. I said goodbye to Liz and teleported to Enchanted Spring Carnival. 

In this location I communicated with Veti2137. I private messaged a few people near me in this location and he replied very quickly. We had a very simple conversation, just asking each other how we are. I couldn't see Veti from where I was and he couldn't see me so we were trying to find each other for a few minutes. I gave up and tried to find someone else to talk to.

Next person I talked to was NellFitzinwell. I private messaged him with a simple 'hello' in hopes that he would reply. When he replied, I told him that I am new to SecondLife and asked if he has any fun tips to share with me. He sent me four Landmarks where you can buy new features and skins for your avatar. I thought this was pretty cool as my avatar needs a bit of style!

I teleported to the Landmarks he gave me just to check them out. I attached a picture of me in one of them below!

The skins for avatar cost some money so I left and teleported back to the TUD campus for tonight's class.

This week's blog,  my final blog, is going to be an overall reflection of my project work with Team Yellow. This week on Thursday the 6th of May, we presented our final project in class and it went really well! Our team has met on Zoom the past two Mondays to fix up our presentation and get it ready for this week. Each member was very dedicated to meeting at the same time each Monday and we all had our head in the game when discussing the project.  When meeting on Zoom we worked really well together considering the pressure that was building up as we approached the due date. We fixed the layout, size and font on our presentation and added our references onto a bibliography page so that they were altogether. We also made an introduction page and a conclusion page.  We came across difficulty trying to come up with wording for our introduction and conclusion.  In fifty years from now, digital citizenship will be more advanced that anyone would have thought. In reference to the Digital Citizenship's website and the nine themes of digital citizenship, I have made predictions of what each element will be like in fifty years from now. Digital Access- I believe the access to technology and the internet will be made very accessible in the future. I predict that prices will be more affordable than they are now and that there will be more inventions like complete waterproof devices, unbreakable devices, foldable pocket-size devices, public devices. The long line of new inventions will make accessing internet etc possible anywhere for anyone. Digital Commerce - Online banking and spending will become a lot more secure in the future. Today there are a lot of scams going around pretending to be AIB etc and scamming people. week 1 blog

 This week I visited 3 destinations to get used to flying, running walking, sitting and even dancing. Exploring the different kinds of places was fun and very interesting, the imagination in the landscapes are spectacular! The first place I visited was the land where my TUD Campus is. I got my grips around the building where my class is. I loved the TUD sign above the door, made it feel so real. It took me a good while to figure out how to sit down and it ended up being quite simple. The room is very well designed I loved it. When first entering the building to find the class, I fell off the stairs a number of times which was frustrating! I learned to fly on the landscape, its the perfect place to do so, its very scenic and I soared over the ocean and got a lovely view of the land where the college sits.  The second place I visited was 'Midnight in Paris'.
